It's so important to be a "self-feeder" in the faith! This page is where we suggest our favorite Catholic resources to share with our community. We hope you find it helpful!

Holy Week at Home

Holy Week is looking a little different this year, as we are spending it in our domestic churches, rather than gathering together in our Catholic Churches for the liturgies. Below are some ideas and resources to live Holy Week well at home! Tag us @indycatholic on Facebook & Instagram and we'll be happy to share how you're living #holyweekathome :)

Holy Week
If you haven't already - we highly encourage you to make a home altar or place set aside for prayer in your home! While we cannot go to our physical Churches to pray or attend Mass, it can be helpful to have a set aside spot to pray and attend Mass.

The Archdiocese will be recording all Holy Week liturgies and posting them HERE!

Holy Thursday

• Stream Holy Thursday Mass.

• Have a family feast to commemorate the Last Supper - Click Here for Ideas!

• Consider washing a family member's feet or hands.

• Decorate your table for the feast - go all out because it's the Institution of the First Eucharist!

• After the meal - Strip your house of decorations, pictures, throw blankets, and pillows leaving your domestic church bare just as our churches are stripped for Good Friday.

Good Friday

• Stream a Good Friday Service.

• Take some time for silence. Jesus was hanging on the cross from 12-3pm & died at 3pm - honor this time.

• Say a Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3pm - the Hour of Mercy

• Venerate the Crucifix.

• Watch The Passion.

• Consider beginning the Divine Mercy Novena (which ends on Divine Mercy Sunday, the Sunday following Easter).

Holy Saturday

• Continue to leave your house bare in solemn observance of Jesus' death.

• Day to prepare for Easter celebrations.

• Clean, cook, get decorations ready for the feast tomorrow.

• Keep silence this day, as Jesus has died and been laid in the tomb.

Easter Sunday

• Bring all the color and decorations back into the house!

• Decorate your altar/prayer space with candles and flowers for Easter Mass.

• Decorate your kitchen table/dining room table with a table cloth & candles!

• Fill your house with flowers!

• Have a special meal.

• Dress up in your Easter best while watching Easter Mass.

• Make an ALLELUIA banner and hang for all to see.

Watch RISEN - a movie from the perspective of a non-believing Roman soldier, trying to track down the body of Jesus.

• Play and be JOYFUL for the LORD is Risen and He has conquered the grave, remember in ALL things - our LORD JESUS CHRIST is VICTORIOUS!

• Don't forget to celebrate Easter for 8 days! Easter (& Christmas) are Octaves, meaning we are to celebrate for 8 whole days! Think of a fun activity, or treat for each day of the Octave!
